The Canon's read

Tarot Canon's own assessment, written for this catalog.

Saints and Angels extends Doreen Virtue's forty-four card format toward Catholic-adjacent territory: saints alongside her signature angels, which for her audience was a genuine broadening, the oracle aisle's most Protestant-inflected genre acknowledging the older tradition of intercession. The archive review notes her Oprah-era media reach and psychology background, the machinery that made her the genre's dominant figure. The saints' inclusion gives this deck its specific use and its specific tension: devotional Catholics have their own long-established relationships with these figures, and an oracle format sits oddly beside actual hagiography; meanwhile Virtue's core audience gets the saints softened into her house register. As with all her decks, her later renunciation of divination frames it now as artifact. It suits collectors of the Virtue catalog's range, readers whose spirituality bridges angel-oracle and saint-devotion registers, and students of how the oracle boom borrowed from older faiths. Practicing Catholics will know which relationships they prefer unmediated.
