The Canon's read
Tarot Canon's own assessment, written for this catalog.
Gabriel Vazquez spent twenty-seven years in herb study, wrote books on magical and medicinal plants, and teaches the material in workshops and courses; the Tarot of Magic Herbs, made with J. H. Lamas, is that expertise dealt into a Rider-Waite-based deck where the plants carry the meanings. The distinction matters on a shelf crowded with botanical decks: this one's herbalism is professional, the plant assignments coming from a practitioner's working knowledge of what each herb actually does and means in the tradition.
Self-published and Spanish-language in origin, it belongs to the Iberian herbal-magic current, a tradition with its own deep folk pharmacology. The RWS chassis keeps it readable while the herbal layer adds a second, learnable vocabulary: read the card, then meet the plant. It suits herbalists and herb students who want their tarot to teach materia, practitioners of green magic, and collectors of expert-made decks. Casual flower-deck browsers should know this one expects them to eventually learn some botany.
