The Canon's read

Tarot Canon's own assessment, written for this catalog.

N. Joy Neish's Creative Fire is a personal project made public: Rider-Waite structure carried in photographic collage of flowers, statuary and garden settings against black grounds, self-published once the private deck earned an audience. Garden photography gives it a specific register, cultivated nature, neither wilderness nor bouquet, and the statues among the blooms lend the compositions their quiet classical staging. Black-ground botanical collage reads formally, each card a lit specimen case, and the RWS base keeps meanings transferable while the imagery swaps figures for flora and stone, kin to the catalog's other unpeopled decks. Personal decks that cross into publication carry their origins visibly: this one reads as a gardener-photographer thinking through the arcana with her own materials. It suits garden people, photographic-collage readers, unpeopled-deck collectors alongside the Dark Exact and Botanica, and readers drawn to decks that began as private practice. Those wanting drawn illustration have most of the shelf.
