The Watersprite Tarot is an amazing blend of spot-on artistic work with an impressive companion book; the book was just as much of a pleasant surprise as the achingly rich watercolor images. The 79 cards display enchanting images, creatively varying a standard tarot deck with just enough of the familiar, and adding the unique, to be readily used from the get-go, while providing many hours, even years, of exploration for the nuances of image and metaphor. The book, titled Watersprite Tarot: A Guide to Understanding and Reading the Tarot, is fully functional to show the path for the neophyte while also providing a number of aha moments for the experienced reader. It is well organized, easy to understand, and filled with full color representations of each card, variously larger than the actual standard cards (as with the major Arcana) and slightly smaller than the cards (for the minor Arcana). I love the book size, which is 7 ½ x 9 ¼ x ¼. The book includes what are also, for other companion books, sorely lacking; there are pages devoted to summaries of the four suits and court cards, as well as notes on numbering & colors of the cards.
