Lynyrd Narciso completes his catalog trio in his sunniest register: the Tarot de Marcelino, cute and beautiful in the review's words, the Philippine artist's Marseille-structured deck whose style varies edition to edition, following the diverse-style reputation his Vanessa, Lepidopteran and Adorables decks built. After his Lenormand craft, the Gravenchase's gothic and the Anino's archive, the Marcelino shows the range's warm pole: the Marseille pattern's formality dissolved in charm.
Narciso's body of work makes him Southeast Asian indie tarot's most documented figure in this catalog, and the Marcelino's edition-varying styles read as an artist refusing to let even his own deck settle. A cute Marseille is itself a small heresy the pattern survives handsomely. It suits Narciso's collectors completing the trio, Philippine and Southeast Asian deck followers, Marseille readers who suspect the pattern could smile, and cute-deck connoisseurs who want structure under the charm. The pattern's stern ancestors pretend not to approve, and deal anyway.
