The Canon's read
Tarot Canon's own assessment, written for this catalog.
Kyle Gray's Keepers of the Light widens his angelic franchise to the ascended masters: forty-five cards with Lily Moses's artwork, the enlightened beings of theosophical tradition, guides of humanity as the review's framing has it, dealt into the accessible Gray-and-Moses house style familiar from their Angels and Ancestors in this catalog. The master's roster, theosophy's great invention, gives the deck its cast: teachers across traditions unified into one luminous faculty.
Gray's craft is accessibility, and applying it to the masters domesticates a famously baroque esoteric hierarchy into daily-draw form, which is either popularization or dilution depending on the reader's stake in the source material. Moses's portraiture does the dignifying. It suits Gray's large readership, ascended-master practitioners wanting a gentler instrument than the theosophical texts, oracle collectors tracking the Hay House era, and newcomers meeting the masters socially before studying them. Theosophy's serious students will visit their own library afterward, as the deck would want.
