The Canon's read
Tarot Canon's own assessment, written for this catalog.
Teresa Deak's Gratitude Tarot invites you, in its own words, to discover the beauty in small things, and structures the invitation: seventy-nine photographic cards organized around four elements of gratitude, Thankfulness, Awareness, Community and Kindness, plus the journey between them, published in a limited edition. Rebuilding tarot's elemental suits as virtues is a quiet structural argument, the deck claiming that gratitude has its own earth, air, fire and water.
Photography suits the premise since gratitude practice is fundamentally about seeing the actual world better, and the cards function as attention training: draw, then find today's instance. The limited edition places it in the small-press photographic tradition, made in community rather than at scale. It suits gratitude-practice keepers, mindfulness teachers, photographers of the everyday, and readers who want their deck to point at their own kitchen table rather than an imagined castle. Cynics are welcome too; the deck's whole method is patient with them.
