Leilah Wendell's Gothic Tarot predates the gothic deck's commercial wave and outdarks all of it: twenty-two majors from the artist whose life's work is the personification of Death, her Westgate current treating darkness as devotion rather than aesthetic. Where the shelf's later gothic decks dress shadow in velvet, Wendell's project was always literal: the dark as the beloved, mortality as the spiritual path itself.
