The fox’s wedding is a Japanese idiom used to describe a sun shower – an event where rain falls while the sun is shining. In Japanese folklore foxes are magical creatures with the ability to shift into human form (kitsune). The belief is that when it rains while the sun is shining somewhere foxes are getting married. This charming and romantic idea is played out in the whimsical Fox’s Wedding Tarot. The Fox’s Wedding Tarot creators see the sun shower as a liminal space in which only the present exists. In this place time does not exist, nor does judgement. The concept of heavenly and sinful are done away with as well – there is only now, there is only ‘is’. Patrick Spargur and Sabrina Saldana see their tarot deck as a lantern which lights the way, giving the Seeker a way forward without having to strain their eyes in the darkness. Each card of this deck is intended to be experienced outside of our time. This is a 78 card tarot deck with a structure based on the Tarot of Marseille. There are 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana.
