The Canon's read
Tarot Canon's own assessment, written for this catalog.
The Carr-Gomms and Will Worthington made three oracles together, and this catalog now holds two: the animals, and here the plants, thirty-nine sturdy cards through St. Martin's Press in 2008, painted with the same reverent naturalism that anchors the Druid Animal Oracle. The companion book is the quiet star, herbal lore with the Carr-Gomms' Druidic scholarship behind it, each plant given its folklore, its uses and its place in the tradition rather than a keyword and a wish.
Plant oracles are crowded territory, but few are built by authors who lead a living tradition and fewer still are painted by an artist of Worthington's patience; the cards read as field observation elevated to icon. It suits herbalists, practitioners of Druidry and earth-path traditions, gardeners with a contemplative streak, and completists of the Worthington shelf. Readers wanting quick affirmations should pick a lighter deck; this one assumes the plants are worth actually knowing.
