The Canon's read

Tarot Canon's own assessment, written for this catalog.

The review opens twenty thousand years ago, wolves calculating the benefits of proximity, and that deep history is the 2024 Dog Tarot's real subject: the arcana as chapters in the longest interspecies friendship, playful in register but standing on domestication's genuinely profound story. A dog deck after the catalog's cat shelf is overdue justice, and the canine virtues, loyalty, service, pack, the walk as ritual, map onto tarot's offices with suspicious ease; the Fool always did need a dog. The playful framing does what animal warmth does best, lowering the threshold: dog people who would never buy a gothic deck will read with their own species-companion. It suits dog households completely, animal-deck collectors balancing the feline ledger, gift-buyers with a leash in the other hand, and readers who learn through creatures they already love. Cat people have their shelf and their opinions; the dogs, characteristically, are just glad everyone came.
