The Canon's read
Tarot Canon's own assessment, written for this catalog.
Cilla Conway's seventy-two cards are abstract energy forms rather than scenes or figures, and the deck's native layout is not a spread but a spiral: the void at the center, manifestation unfolding outward. The archive's reviewer first met it laid out that way at one of Conway's own workshops, which is the right introduction, because the structure is the teaching. This is a deck about emergence, read as a map of how things come into being rather than as answers to questions.
That makes it contemplative equipment more than a consulting oracle. It rewards slow work, meditation, studio practice and journaling, and it pairs unusually well with abstract-deck company like the Colquhoun, which reaches a similar place from the surrealist side. It suits readers comfortable doing their own seeing, and artists especially. Anyone who wants named meanings and positional spreads should expect to work against the deck's grain.
