The Canon's read
Tarot Canon's own assessment, written for this catalog.
A twenty-two card, majors-only deck from 1996 by Carol Herzer and Guido Gillabel, self-published and organized around the egg as creation symbol. The majors-only format is its own small tradition: strip the deck to the trumps and every draw lands on a big arcanum, which concentrates readings into archetypal statements rather than daily particulars. Herzer and Gillabel fold that concentration into cosmogony, the egg as the void's first shape, which suits a trumps-only structure unusually well; creation stories are nothing but major arcana.
Self-published mid-nineties esoterica has its own collector ecology, small print runs traded among enthusiasts, and this deck lives there. It suits collectors of that scene, majors-only readers, and anyone drawn to creation symbolism as a working theme. As an only deck it would be limiting by design; as a concentrated instrument alongside a full pack, it does one thing with clarity.
