Archetype Cards

Caroline Myss's Archetype Cards run eighty strong because her system needs the room: this is not tarot but her sacred-contracts vocabulary in card form, the Victim, the Saboteur, the Prostitute, the Child in its variants, the working cast of her psychology of archetypes. Myss's framework treats archetypes as the contracts a life is organized around, and the cards are its workshop equipment, built for the survey-and-select work her books assign rather than for divinatory draws. The deck's honest register is therefore psychological inventory: identifying one's operating archetypes, staffing the inner committee, which borrows Jung through Myss's distinctive systematization. Used that way it has real utility and a large practiced audience; used as an oracle it feels administrative, which is diagnostic in itself. It suits Myss's readership doing the actual exercises, coaches and counselors working archetypal frameworks, and psychological-deck collectors.
