Alchemical Emblem

F. J. Campos's Alchemical Emblem deck of 1978 is twenty-two cards of the tradition's actual emblem language, the woodcut-descended imagery of alchemical treatises pressed into majors-only form, and it is long out of print, surviving through collectors, specialist dealers and the occasional stray listing. The archive review is frank about the hunt, naming the shops that might still hold one, which tells you the deck's current life: quarry. Emblem alchemy suits majors-only better than most themes; the treatises' plates were already a sequence of symbolic stations, and twenty-two of them make a natural rosary of the work. The 1970s printing places it in the decade's esoteric revival, upstream of Place's Alchemical Tarot in this catalog by a generation. It suits collectors of out-of-print esoterica, students of alchemical iconography tracing card-form precedents, and majors-only readers with patience for the search.
